SUMMARY
A women’s baseball league is started when most of the current ballplayers (men) are shipped off to WWII. The story follows a team, a few of its players (most notably a couple of competitive sisters, Dottie – played by Geena Davis – and Kit – played by Lori Petty), and their coach, an alcoholic former ballplayer – played by Tom Hanks – who doesn’t take the league, team, or women seriously.

THE BIZ SPIN
This is an inspirational movie about determination, sisterhood, and chasing your dreams. All those lessons can easily be applied to business. The only explicit business move in the movie is how the league gets created – a wealthy candy maker founds the league to keep baseball alive, but also for publicity and to make a few dollars…

HOW YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE THIS MOVIE
Pictures of women and/or Tom Hanks in an old-school baseball uniform are very likely from this movie…

WHY I LIKE IT FOR BUSINESS
Not so much for business, but I like it in general – it’s a fun and empowering movie.
