SUMMARY
When free-spirited Lulu (Melanie Griffith) sets her sights on straight-arrow Charles (Jeff Daniels), a wild ride begins. She offers to drive him to his downtown NYC office, but has other plans in mind. Before he knows it, they’ve left Manhattan and his afternoon at work is no longer an option. Although he objects at first, Charles quickly becomes a willing accomplice in Lulu’s petty crime filled road trip to her hometown. Things quickly escalate when they run into Lulu’s recently-released-from-prison ex-husband, Ray (Ray Liotta) who makes it very clear that he wants Lulu back – and is willing to fight for her.

THE BIZ SPIN
This movie starts off with an adventure rom-com feel and takes a dark turn towards a lightly-violent thriller. The movie was a lot of fun to watch and while the business lessons weren’t immediately apparent to me, there are a couple good ones – primarily around the way Charlie’s employer and colleagues acted towards him. It initially seemed like he was at risk of getting fired after blowing off a meeting and getting into some legally sticky situations, but he didn’t get fired – his company stood by him. He also thought that his colleagues would judge him harshly for his “fall” from lionhood, but he actually earns respect for his willingness to be more of a dog.

HOW YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE THIS MOVIE
Don’t think there are any particularly famous scenes in this movie (but somebody correct me if I’m wrong!)

NOTABLE CAST
Melanie Griffith, Jeff Daniels, and Ray Liotta

WHY I LIKE IT FOR BUSINESS
I just like it – if you’re looking for a fun movie that’s a little sexy, a little funny, a little adventurous and a little thrilling, this is a great choice.

Special thanks to Rick Z. for showing me the light.
